Governance

Good governance is key to the health and success of an organisation and is therefore high on the agenda in all sectors, public, private and voluntary. As voluntary and community organisations working for public benefit are increasingly held accountable for our outcomes and expected to demonstrate how well they are governed. Efficient and transparent systems of governance really are of paramount importance today.
Governance is a big subject, encompassing many aspects of organisational business. It can be difficult for boards to know what they need to do to govern responsibly. Fortunately, there is guidance available.
Board Development
Every board is different and unique. Its character comes from the people involved, the organisation they serve and their history but every board also faces similar challenges. Whether it runs a small local charity or a major national agency, a membership organisation or a social enterprise, each board still has to answer the same questions: Are we making a difference to our organisation? Are we fulfilling our responsibilities and ensuring the organisation we govern does the same? We can support board with training and facilitation of development.
